Mark & Nicola
We are originally from Morecambe and Lancaster and so are well-bred Northerners. I [Mark] was a secondary school history teacher for 12 years before entering the ministry full-time. We were youth pastors in our home church of Father’s House in Lancaster before moving to Christian Life Centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham, where I was assistant pastor for just over two years.
In January 2015, we moved to Southport to when I became the associate pastor at Lakeside Church, before moving to Formby Elim as senior pastor in January 2018. We have a passion to see everybody in the local church trained and equipped for reaching others, and to create an environment where people can encounter the power and presence of Jesus.
We have three young and energetic children: Theo, Joel and Francesca. In our spare time we love seeing family, socialising, keeping fit and watching movies.
Adam & Jo
We are originally from Staffordshire and have lived in Merseyside since 2012 with Adam working as assistant pastor and minister in training at Formby since September 2015. We met when we were 14, started going out at 17 and got married while attending Regents Theological College. We are passionate about children and young people and are constantly looking for ways to make the church as accessible as possible to families.
We have two wonderful, hectic children and our main pastimes involve spending time together as a family and visiting extended family in Stoke. We also love eating and cooking, running (Adam), teaching the piano (Jo), board games, reading and exploring the area.
David & Christine
We moved to Formby from Bedford in March 1975 due to David’s work being relocated to Liverpool and now consider ourselves as adopted ‘northerners’. Moving north with no family locally was difficult at first but after being in Formby for a few years we came to faith in Jesus Christ which has been a life changing experience for us both. We have been part of this church since it was started in 1993 involved in many aspects of its work.
We have two wonderful daughters and sons-in-law who have provided us with four very special grandchildren. Now no longer in fulltime occupation we are enjoying our retirement in this beautiful part of God’s creation, walking, cycling as well as building a model railway for us and the grandchildren.
David & Valerie
We both originate from the south of England, and met while studying at London University. David has a research background in Microbiology and is currently in charge of quality assurance and regulatory affairs for a Company based in Bootle. Valerie works from home and is a self-employed translator specialising in German and French. We have 4 children all in their 20s-30s Tim, Mark, Becky and Jonathan – all still based at home. We moved to Formby 28 years ago and have been involved with this church from the beginning. David is currently one of the church Elders and heads up the worship team. Valerie has a heart for helping people, is actively involved in working with residents of Smithy Green in Formby and runs a monthly meeting for older folks – Meeting Point.
For fun David enjoys photography and we both enjoy travelling and seeing new places.
